CHARACTER EDUCATION
Stamford Central School kicks off its new Character Education program for all kindergarten through twelfth grade students. Each month, a new theme will be introduced to students through daily announcements, the Stamford Central School web site, quotable quotes relating to the theme of the month, as well as character trait reflections by classroom teachers in all grade levels.
Each month, color coded certificates will be provided to every Stamford Central School teacher. When teachers catch a student demonstrating through daily actions that month's character trait, they will be awarded a certificate that will be posted on the bulletin board in the main hallway.
To encourage community support and awareness, a Community Coffee Hour was planned where past SCS Superintendent, Tonda Dunbar, provided our collaborators with a packet listing the monthly themes and character traits.
The program is part of the district's Comprehensive Development Education Plan. SCS Guidance Counselor, Michelle Wilson, is heading up the program. Below you will see a list of the community collaborators.
