June 6, 2021 ROBO Call

The following ROBO call has two important messages to share with parents and faculty and staff:

  1. On Friday Governor Cuomo’s Office signaled the intent to change state requirements for students and employees to wear masks while in school or on school grounds this Monday.

The last-minute message Friday afternoon has created confusion because it also states that individual schools can implement stricter standards if they so choose.

At this time Stamford Central School will continue to follow current CDC and DOH guidance regarding the requirement for students and staff to wear a mask.

More information will be shared on how Stamford Central School will respond with this possible change once we receive clearer direction.

  1. Due to a positive COVID-19 case in 5th grade, the WHOLE 5th grade will move to remote learning on Monday June 7th.  Students will follow the regular bell schedule.  Meals will be available for pick-up at the cafeteria entrance (south door) between 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Please call 607-652-1254 and leave a message to reserve meals. When leaving your message requesting meals, please leave your name and number of 5th graders in your household.

  • Beginning over February break the bus loop will be closed for the rest of the year due to construction.

  1. Parents will be required to enter and exit the North Lot from the Route 10 end of River Street, not Main Street.
  2. The school buses on River Street will have their Red Flashing Lights on when dropping off students and you will not be able to pass them if you enter from Main Street.
  • Working with the Stamford Village and Highway Department there will be no thru traffic on River Street from 8:00 AM to 8:10 AM and between 2:50 PM to 3:05 PM.

With the move to remote learning January 4 - January 8 this is a friendly reminder that BOCES CTE students will be picked up at home and brought to BOCES.

January 2, 2021
As you are aware, Governor Cuomo and Centers for Disease Control have repeatedly stressed that the holiday season would bring a COVID spike due to increased social activity.  It is anticipated that there will continue to be a COVID surge between January 2nd through January 15th.  Due to the anticipated increase in COVID cases Stamford Central School will use a REMOTE LEARNING MODEL from Monday January 4th through Friday January 8th with an anticipated return date of January 11th for in-school instruction.  Remote Learning could be extended to January 18th if needed.

The decision to move to REMOTE LEARNING was not made lightly.  We realize the impact it may have on parents and families; however, our first goal will always be to make sure that students and staff are able to teach and learning in a healthy and safe environment.

We appreciate your continued support during this challenging time, particularly as we continue to see an overwhelming surge in coronavirus cases this fall and particularly in December (and January) as people meet to celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other winter holidays.  Working together we can curb the current COVID surge.
Meals will be available on Monday January 4th and Wednesday January 6th for pick-up at the cafeteria entrance (south door) between 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Please call 607-652-1254 and leave a message to reserve meals.

When calling to reserve meals, please leave your name and number of children in your household with your message requesting meals.

A lot of uncertainty remains related to school districts opening this fall and what that will look like. School districts in NYS are waiting to receive information from the Board of Regents and the New York State Department of Education on a “Re-opening Framework and Guidance for Schools”. We expect the guidance to be released the week of July 13th. Please keep in mind, the Governor will make the final decision on opening schools. Our number one priority is to have our school open in a comprehensive manner where teaching and learning can occur safely.  Once we receive the guidance we will be sharing that information with parents and the wider school community.

Dear Parents of the Stamford Central School Class of 2020,

Please be assured that Stamford Central School is developing a variety of plans to hold the Class of 2020 commencement ceremony in light of school building closure.

Our commitment is to honor our seniors in this important milestone by maintaining the traditional ceremony, but adhere to Governor Cuomo’s executive orders regarding social distancing measures.

We await, as you do, clarification from the Governor regarding the extent to which New York will ‘reopen’ and what that means for our graduation ceremony when he issues a statement on May 15.

In the interim, please do not hesitate to contact the Senior Class advisor, Mrs. Patricia ‘Tish’ Voorhees with any questions or concerns you may have.  You may email her at [email protected].

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
