Stamford Central School is proud to announce our Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the 2025-26 School year.
Kaitlyn Stoutenburg, daughter of Andrea and Thomas Miner and of Brian and Amanda Stoutenburg all of Stamford, NY has been named Valedictorian of Stamford Central School’s Class of 2026.
Kaitlyn has earned numerous awards for character, citizenship, athletics, and academic excellence. She has been involved in student leadership, serving as Class Secretary since her sophomore year, a four-year member of Student Council (Secretary for three years), and a participant in the New York State Council on Leadership and Student Activities for four years. She is a member of the National Honor Society, serving as Vice President her senior year, and has been honored as a Scholar Athlete for four years in a row.
A multi‑sport athlete, Kaitlyn competed in basketball and soccer for four years, earning Honorable Mention All‑Star recognition in both sports as a senior. She played Varsity Softball all four years, receiving an Honorable Mention her junior year. She also competed in Varsity Golf during her junior and senior years, serving as Team Captain as a senior. In addition, she has been a trombonist since 5th grade, a three-time All-County musician and a two-time Hartwick College Honor Band performer.
Her commitment to service includes volunteering as a teacher’s aide, Little League umpire, Kiddie Kicks soccer referee, and assisting with the Christmas Feeling Fund for four years. She also participated in Sources of Strength for four years, promoting emotional well‑being among students, and attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program as a junior. She has also held several part‑time jobs, ranging from a cashier at TOPS to camp counselor for Camp HERE. Kaitlyn plans to attend Russell Sage College in the Fall majoring in Speech Language Pathology.
Stamford’s Salutatorian is Liam Hanway, son of Darren and Jamison Hanway of Stamford, NY. He has enrolled at Siena University, where he will pursue a degree in Political Science. Liam has made a meaningful impact both within the school and throughout the Stamford community.
Liam has been a Boy Scout for more than 12 years, earning the rank of Eagle Scout and serving as Senior Patrol Leader. His commitment to service extends into the community through five years of volunteering with the Christmas Feeling Fund and his work with the Stamford Village Improvement Association, where he contributed to local community enhancement projects.
Liam attended the National Security Conference at Georgetown University, served as an educational assistant at the Michael Kudish Natural History Preserve, and participated in Sources of Strength, the Outdoor Club, and the Varsity Club during his junior and senior years.
Athletically, Liam played Varsity Soccer for three years, competed in baseball during his freshman and sophomore years, and ran track as a junior and senior. He also spent three summers as a Camp Here counselor, helping guide and mentor younger students.
