Stamford Central School is proud to announce our Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the 2024-25 School year: Robin Henne, daughter of Judy and George Henne of Stamford, has been named Valedictorian of Stamford Central School’s Class of 2025. Robin has consistently demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and dedication throughout her high school career. She was class president all four years, a dedicated member of the National Honor Society, and an active leader in multiple extracurricular clubs. She held officer positions in Drama Club, International Studies Club, Music Club, Outdoor Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D.), Student Council, Varsity Club, and Yearbook Club, while participating in Rotary, and Girl Scouts, which she was part of for 13 years. Robin also attended the New York State Council on Leadership and Student Activities conference during her sophomore, junior, and senior years, earning the Outstanding Student Leader Award in her junior year. Alongside her leadership roles, Robin skillfully balanced academics with her passions in music and athletics. A talented musician, she took a leading role in the school band, earning recognition as a participant in Area All County, Area All State, Honor Band at Hartwick College during her sophomore, junior, and senior years, and she was also honored by the New York State Music Association for her musical achievements from ninth through twelfth grade. In sports, Robin was a member of both the girls' varsity soccer and tennis teams. Robin plans to attend SUNY Buffalo in the fall majoring in Environmental Science. Stamford’s Salutatorian is Mandy Zheng, daughter of Jim Zheng and Cindy Chen of Elmhurst, NY. She has enrolled at CUNY Baruch College, where she will pursue a degree in Accounting. Throughout her high school journey, Mandy has demonstrated a commitment to both academics and extracurricular involvement. She has been an active member of the SCS Chapter of the National Honor Society for three years (grades 10, 11, and 12). In addition to her academic achievements, she has participated in a wide range of clubs and activities. These include the International Studies Club, Outdoor Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D.), Student Council, Sources of Strength, Yearbook Club, and the New York State Council on Leadership and Student Activities Conference where she won an award as a sophomore. Her dedication extends beyond academics and leadership, she played on the school’s tennis team in both 10th and 12th grade. Her passion for the arts was on display as she participated in the school talent show in 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. Mandy also found time to volunteer, contributing to the local blood drive for two years, the Christmas Feeling Fund for four years, and community improvement efforts for one year. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom; she's a peer leader at CROP, works at TP's cafe, and also worked for many years in her family's business, Ming Moon.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Teachers play a foundational role in shaping the minds, values, and futures of our students here at SCS. Their dedication, creativity, resilience often goes far beyond the classroom, making a lasting impact on our students and community. All faculty and staff enjoyed a catered luncheon by Frank Basile an SCS Alumni, Chef & Owner at Mama Maria's, and was sponsored by the Stamford Teacher's Association. Our Amazing Cake was baked with love by our very own Laurie Fallon, Special Education Teacher. We are grateful for all you do in our community! With love, The STA Social Committee

April 9, 2025 Dear Parents/Guardians, Re: NYS Computer Based Testing Grades 3-8 The New York State Education Department (NYSED) is aware, for a second day, that the computer-based testing platform for grades 3-8 testing continues to have intermittent failings (i.e., inability to log into the system, freezes, etc.). Schools in our region and across NYS have experienced interruptions or system failure. Due to continued issues with the computer-based testing system, we have paused testing for today. Stamford CSD will wait until after the April break to continue 3-8 testing, to ensure that there will be no more issues with the system before recommencing testing. NYSED has extended the testing window to allow more time to complete the assessments. NYSED has apologized to school districts and those who were impacted. They have stated that they find the situation unacceptable and are holding their testing vendor accountable. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
